2019 Warrior: Erin Remme
Meet Erin Remme. Erin is a fierce, lovable and inspiring mother of 3 from Albertville, Minnesota. She was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic breast cancer and has recently retired as a Nurse Educator in the Family Birth Center at Maple Grove Hospital. During her career in healthcare, Erin was very well known for her compassionate care for patients, babies, and coworkers. Erin has kept a positive attitude and a fighting spirit with this diagnosis. In 2018 she spearheaded the first Metavivor Gala in MN, raising upwards of $200,000 for Stage IV breast cancer research! She has traveled the country advocating with Metavivor and pursuing political support for more research as well. In lieu of her fight, she was recently told her cancer is spreading and activating. Up until this February, Erin and her husband, Josh, were able to keep the diagnosis a secret from their 3 little kiddos; letting them enjoy their mama without worry up until now. She has recently started chemo and the physical side effects of the treatment are becoming apparent. In classic Erin style, she shared the news with her children with strength and dignity; even inviting them to shave her head (see video above)!
Through the ups and downs, Erin has been a Warrior and we are so incredibly honored to have her a part of our INDY Tribe.
