2021 Little Warrior: Chi’Anne Smith
On July 29th, 2020, 3 year old Chi’Anne was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Her mom, Faith, describes those moments after hearing of her diagnosis as devastating.. “I couldn’t breathe…” she said. Chi’Anne started treatment shortly after and things started to look up for them. She had very positive results to her treatment and things were starting to have a more positive outlook. On October 20th, 2020, Chi’Anne was released from the hospital after having a heavy dose of chemotherapy. On their way home, Faith and Chi’Anne were hit by a speeding driver who ran a red light. Unfortunately, there was nothing her insurance company could do and Faith was left without a vehicle. This has made it extremely difficult for their family. At this time, Chi’Anne is unable to take public transportation because she is immuno-compromised, which leaves her mom with no other choice but to pay for Uber or Lyft to get Chi’Anne to her appointments. Cancer doesn’t stop because of these circumstances. Throughout it all, Chi’Anne handles this all with grace and strength! We believe that Chi’Anne is NOT DONE YET!
