2022 Little Warrior: Arris Nelson
Arris was diagnosed with T- Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on August 5th, 2019. Arris is a super active kid who absolutely loves sports. His mom knew something wasn’t right when he suddenly started not feeling well and having little interest in doing the things he loved most. After 3 trips to the clinic where the doctor told them everything was alright, his mom Arreal took him back a 4th time asking for answers. Finally, they did a CT scan which revealed a large mass in his chest. He had so much fluid in his chest that they immediately took him to surgery to relieve the fluid and he spent 3 weeks in the hospital following that.
Arris has been undergoing treatment for the last 3 years. Currently, He takes an oral chemo drug daily at home and then receives a monthly infusion at the hospital. He hasn’t let this stop him from his love of sports! You can usually find him playing football, basketball, or playing with his 3 baby brothers! Courtney had the opportunity to talk with Arris’ mom who shared how hard these 3 years have been. She’s a single mama to 4 boys and takes care of all of their needs with the help of her family.
Arris, you are such a strong kiddo with so much ahead of you! We believe you are not done yet!! Keep fighting buddy!
