2021 Warrior: Emily Springer
Emily is an amazing single mom to 11-month-old Grace. At first, Emily had been experiencing an easy breastfeeding journey. However, she had what she thought was a clogged duct when Grace was about a month old. She pumped, and breastfed, and massaged, but the lump didn’t go away. Fortunately, a lactation consultant urged her to get the lump checked out if it didn’t go away within a week or two.
Fast-forward to now… Emily has since been diagnosed with Stage 3, Grade 3, Triple Negative, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (breast cancer) with lymph node involvement (known as TNBC). Emily has been an absolute rock star going through 16 rounds of chemo and a double mastectomy along with all the other things that come with a pandemic! She has truly shown her daughter what it means to never give up! Emily is NOT DONE YET!
