The INDY Foundation is rooted in a history directly impacted by cancer and the experiences the journey brings. It is because of the light and positivity from our founder Kayla’s late husband, Kyle Strand, that INDY was born. Our mission is to provide love, faith, and financial support to individuals fighting cancer in Minnesota. No one should have to experience and fight this fierce battle alone - and our team, sponsors, and donors help us make sure they don’t have to.
How & Why INDY Started
INDY Stands for I’m Not Done Yet - something the original INDY warrior, our Founder’s late husband Kyle Strand, said to their pastor one time while in the hospital. It became a staple in their household, something Kyle would say often. “Don’t worry Mama Bear, I’m Not Done Yet – God doesn’t want me yet.” His battle was incredible, he always went into everything with a smile and a can-do attitude.
The Man Behind the Mission & Our Name
As much struggle as Kyle endured between surgeries, hospital stays, and chemotherapy - he always remained positive. Even in the darkest hours, Kyle Strand managed to put a smile on his face. He always was the first to make sure everyone else was happy and okay even when he was in pain. His smile could light up an entire room, his humor always had you belly laughing and his love was endless. To say he was the life of the room is an understatement, he was the life of my world and so many others.
